Musically Speaking

“Salari” by Nameless

I recently decided to catch up on my Kenyan music since I have been so behind. There are lots of new and extremely talented artists who are producing quality and meaningful music. Here are two videos which I think are brilliantly done and do a beautiful job of illustrating the social condition of men and women in Kenya and other parts of Africa. Both bring up topics of class, daily struggles, equality, peace, solidarity and hope in light of the 2007 post-election violence and beyond. I hope to hear more from these artists and find other songs and videos that also tell an African story.
